Forthcoming Events

Annual General Meeting, Saturday 10th March 2007:

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at the Ramada Ealing on Saturday 10th March 2007.
We will start with refreshments at 11:30 a.m. to give everyone the opportunity to meet.
The formal meeting will start at 2 p.m. and the agenda will include:
• Adoption of our constitution (this will enable us to obtain charity status)
• The Chair’s Report
• The Treasurer’s Report
• Election of new Trustees
• Any other business

A copy of the proposed constitution for a Charitable Unincorporated Association is posted on this web-site. PLEASE let the secretary or Robert Brewster (email addresses are on the contact’s page) know as soon as possible if you have any proposed suggestions or amendments regarding the constitution. We would like to concentrate on future events and activities during the meeting and avoid lengthy technical discussions.

We urgently need an events manager and a web-site manager. These positions should preferably be held by trustees (under the proposed constitution, committee members are known as trustees). Please send your nominations for the election of trustees to the Secretary. Nominations must be accepted by the nominee.

Previous Events:

June 2006 Hampshire event:

Allsion Arlotte reports:
On the 24th June 2006, the first event to be organised by the new committee for Tsunami Support (UK) was held at The Queen Elizabeth
Country Park, near Petersfield, Hampshire. Our aim was to provide a less formal setting for people to get together and relax, enjoy the fresh air and we hoped sunshine and chat and mingle. Allison Arlotte did most of the planning and research and we really struggled to find the perfect location. In the end we took a chance on
QECP. We hired in enough cover for either sunshine or rain and furniture for fifty to sixty people. No one knew exactly how many to cater for as people were reluctant to commit to attending, given the vagaries of the weather. As it worked out we had exactly that many people turn up, to be rewarded by glorious sunshine and to enjoy each others company, food, drink as well as a strange variation on the game of softball. Friends we had met before and friends and family who came along for the first time, all joined in and made the day very special. For those who couldn't make it, we have had a number of requests from those who did, to make the picnic an annual event, so maybe next year even more of us can share a wonderful day in the sun. We might even find someone who knows the rules of softball.

December 2006 York event:

A group of Tsunami Support (UK) members spent a very pleasant afternoon together at the Hedley House Hotel in York on Saturday 2nd December. It was good to see familiar faces and also to make new friends. We all enjoyed a delicious three course lunch together, conversation flowed, and the whole atmosphere was one of mutual support and understanding. Thanks should go to Louise and Greg at Hedley House for making us feel so welcome and providing such a relaxing venue to meet.
