Request from a documentary producer

We have received the following request from Alex Kiehl, a producer with Darlow Smithson Productions...
I am a producer at a highly regarded, award winning British television production company called Darlow Smithson Productions. Our company has earned a reputation for making documentaries that handle emotionally difficult subject matter in a sensitive and engaging manner. I am currently working on a documentary for British and American television about the 2004 Asian Tsunami. The aim of the programme is to focus on home videos of the catastrophe – to reveal the enormity of the disaster by using the words of survivors and footage they filmed. Our approach will tell the intimate stories of those that witnessed the Tsunami. Our ambition is to craft amateur footage that has been shot by survivors, hearing their responses as recorded on the audio soundtrack at the time, live as it happened, in order that we tell the story of that day and its aftermath as truthfully as possible. We would also like to hear personal testimony from the survivors, the families and friends of those who were lost to this disaster, and the emergency services on the ground. I wondered whether it may be possible for us to send a short message to members of Tsunami Support UK about the project to see whether any may be interested in being involved. I’m very happy to have a chat about the programme over the phone and have attached a company profile to give you an idea of the quality of Darlow Smithson Production’s work. Contact details

As usual, the fact that we post the message on the web site does not imply that we endorse or support this request in any way. It is up to individuals to decide for themselves whether this is something they would like to get involved with.
However, if you do take up the offer, we would be interested to know how you got on.
Take care.
