Debate in Parliament
Robert Brewster
3/30/2009
One of our members has asked her M.P. to help advance the memorial project. The M.P., Mr. Phil Willis, has been successful in obtaining an Adjournment debate which will start around 10 p.m. this evening and last for 30 minutes. This allows Mr. Willis to speak and the Minister, Tessa Jowell, will reply. The MP has no right of response, but can intervene in the Minister's speech if he or she is willing to allow it (called 'giving way'). The speech that Mr. Willis has prepared is excellent.
If you would like to watch the debate this evening, you can do so live on the parliament channel on television, or online here: http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/VideoPlayer.aspx?meetingId=3744 <http://www.parliamentlive.tv/Main/VideoPlayer.aspx?meetingId=3744&rel=ok> &rel=ok. The footage will also be archived on the same website, so you can view it in future, as well as live. You can also view the transcript of the debate from tomorrow onwards online here: http://pubs1.tso.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmhansrd.htm.
We do hope to see you on Saturday morning, from 11 a.m. onwards at the DCMS (full details on our web site)
Best wishes
Robert Brewster
