An interview on 'Woman's Hour'

12/7/2007

Kelly Macro and Steve Gill are to talk on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour at 10 a.m. on Tuesday 11 December. The Rt. Hon. Tessa Jowell will join them to discuss issues of concern to TS(UK).

Kelly Macro and Steve Gill will be interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour at 10.a.m. on Tuesday 11 December. They will tell their stories about how the Boxing Day tsunami changed their lives nearly 3 years ago. The Rt. Hon. Tessa Jowell will join them in her capacity as Minister responsible for the Humanitarian Assistance Unit. She will explain how the H.A.U. was initiated after the tsunami and 7/7 disasters, and how the H.A.U. and TS(UK) are working constructively together to see how best to build and fund a memorial. Our hope is that we will be able to reach out to many more people affected by the tsunami and to discuss with them their views on the memorial project.

This will be followed by a meeting with the Director of the Natural History Museum to hear our aspirations for the memorial and to start developing some ideas. The Natural History Museum is one of three sites being considered for the memorial, the others are the Victoria Tower Gardens next to the Houses of Parliament, and the English Garden in Battersea Park.
