The primary purpose of the meeting is to vote on the new constitution, but the intention is to take the opportunity to have an open discussion on the proposed memorial and to bring people up to date on the current plans. The venue is in Battersea Park, so people who have not had the chance to see the proposed site in the English garden will be able to do so, and committee members will be on hand to answer questions.
The timetable for the 8th is as follows:
10:00 A private meeting of the TS(UK) committee with representatives of the Department of Culture and Media Studies (DCMS) and Battersea Park Authorities.
12:00 Arrival of TS (UK) members, light refreshments and visits to the proposed memorial site. It is hoped that the DCMS representatives will be present for a short while to answer questions.
13:00 TS(UK) Special General Meeting, with the following agenda:
· Vote on the proposed changes to the constitution, a necessary precursor to granting the organisation charitable status.
· A résumé of the morning's meeting
· An open debate on proposed memorial.
15:00 Draw the meeting to a close.
This is an important meeting and we urge all interested people to come if at all possible. This is your opportunity to contribute ideas and to make sure the committee are aware of your opinions.
It would help if you could let Steve Gill know if you are intending to come, as we are planning to provide some light refreshments.
The venue is the Horticultural Training Room, Staff Yard, Battersea Park, London, SW11 4NJ. For details of how to get to the park please click the following link, which will take you to the official Battersea Park web site.
Members will be contacted individually by e-mail with the agenda, and proxy voting forms for those unable to attend.
Just a note on getting there - The nice lady I have been speaking to in the council offices says come through the Albert Gate, and the Staff Yard is on your left. There is a car park is on your right. Good luck.
